MUSLIM convert preacher Firdaus Wong Wai Hung has a RM2 mil legal suit in store for PKR Kuala Langar division committee member Kamalanathan Chellappan for having accused him of “making a living by being a racist”.
This follows the latter’s Facebook post dated Oct 1 whereby he took a potshot at the Multiracial Reverted Muslims (MRM) founder, Prof Ridhuan Tee Abdullah and Zamri Vinoth as well as rightist activist Tamim Dahri Abdul Razak by suspecting them as walaun (slang for hardcore PAS loyalist) and being racists.
“If you’ve the courage to write it, you must have the courage to face the consequences.,” he asserted with regard to the letter of demand (LOD) sent on Wednesday (Oct 7) to Kamalanathan who is also corporate personality associated with private security services.
“Retract the statement, apologise and pay RM2 mill in damages – or we will see each other in court.”
The preacher who also founded Malay language portal The Merdeka Times insisted that his principles remain consistent in that “having a difference of opinion or disliking my views is normal but that’s not a license to spread slander”.
“The principle held by people with brain is that the accuser – the one making the allegations – must provide proof to substantiate their claims; it’s not the responsibility of the accused to prove their innocence,” justified Firdaus.
“If you want to know whether you’ve brain or otherwise, simply look at the quality of your statement and question. One can tell the difference at a single glance.”
Apparently, Kamalanathan has yet to remove his FB post which has fetched 472 likes, 549 comments and 22 shares at the time of writing.
In fact, he has further jibed both the Muslim converts as well as the rightist fraternity as “strange and defies logic 😇” – but this time without naming anyone – “for not speaking up about the issue of billions in public funds that are being sakau (siphoned off)”.
Recall that Firdaus who is also chairman of NGO Gerakan Anti Rumah Anutan Haram had in July this year sued DAP adviser Lim Guan Eng for RM5 mil for defaming him with the “extremist” label in a video.
As revealed by the Bagan MP’s solicitors Guok Partnership, this is in response to Firdaus having mocked their client over the annual Butterworth mega pork sale carnival event in mid-June.
In a reply to Firdaus’s LOD sighted by The Edge, the preacher has allegedly suggested to Guan Eng who is also the Bagan MP to establish a “Biro Agama Bukan Islam (B.A.B.I.) DAP and even proposed a programme named: “BABI DAP Menganjurkan Jualan Daging Babi seDAP” in a FB post on July 24. – Oct 9, 2026
