Healthcare without borders: Sharing medical experiences with Taiwanese hospitals

SINCE early last year, the loss human life inflicted by COVID-19 has been a crushing blow to many families worldwide. This has highlighted the importance and necessity of development in the medical industry.

With that, an online showcase “Taiwan and Malaysia, Joining Hands in Bringing Greater Health to Life” will be held at 2pm on July 28 to share Taiwan’s most reputable hospitals’ advanced medical services and to build closer collaboration between Taiwan and Malaysian counterparts in the healthcare field.

This event is organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Taiwan (ROC), Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), and Kuala Lumpur Taiwan Trade Centre, and it will cover on a variety of topics including: interactive telemedicine services, proton therapy, advanced health examinations, other specialty medical services as well as international medical and health exchanges.

In addition, the hospitals will share their experiences thus far to provide patients with new treatment options and new collaborative opportunities with local Malaysian partners amidst the pandemic.

The webinar will bring together experts from various fields. One of the featured hospitals, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, has been the hospital of choice for many, from prominent businessmen to famous athletes. Their advanced tumour radiotherapy and proton radiotherapy are known to have high success rates with low side effects.

In addition to Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, the webinar will also feature:

  • Vice Superintendent Dr Ching-Ting Tan (a well-known otolaryngologist) from National Taiwan University Hospital Hsin-Chu Branch – the most iconic public hospital in Taiwan – will personally explain how the hospital provides remote consultation services and how this can help Malaysian hospitals during the pandemic.
  • Dr Li-Chien Chien from National Cheng Kung University Hospital, a national medical centre that can perform multiple organ transplants, will introduce the hospital’s long-term medical and health exchange program with countries around the world, welcoming cooperation opportunities with Malaysian industry players.
  • Accommodating to the pandemic, Landseed International Hospital can conduct multinational remote consultations through collaborative hospitals in Malaysia, which include psychosomatic, paediatrics, traditional Chinese medicine, cancer treatment and cerebrovascular treatment among others. They also provide green channel referrals to Taiwan for further treatment.
  • Shin Kong Wu Ho Su Memorial Hospital, a well-known reputation in the Chinese community, will introduce their advanced health examination on how to check your health while also providing comprehensive follow up and health management.
  • Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital will present their international medical services such as regenerative therapy for spinal cord injury and heart surgery.

Besides these six well-known hospitals, this event will also showcase five smart medical technology service providers and the National Health Insurance Administration from Taiwan. These strategic leaders – TaiHao Medical, Insight Medical Solutions, Chiun Mai Communication Systems, Wel-Bloom Bio Tech and OmQi Biotechnology – will present their unique medical technologies, smart devices and healthcare solution to the world.

Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur Taiwan Trade Centre stated that Malaysia will benefit more patients and build a smarter and healthier life, through further healthcare cooperation between Taiwan and Malaysia.
