Invest S’gor to help local F&B businesses to venture into the ASEAN market

INVEST Selangor Bhd plans to assist food and beverage (F&B) entrepreneurs to penetrate the local and ASEAN markets via its maiden “Supermarket Buyers Programme 2021”, which comes under the Selangor International Expo (F&B) 2021.

Selangor state executive councillor for industry and trade Datuk Teng Chang Khim said the programme offers strategic collaboration with the Selangor state government in assisting F&B entrepreneurs to become suppliers under participating supermarkets, namely AEON CO (M) Sdn Bhd, Lulu Group Retail Malaysia and ST Rosyam Mart Sdn Bhd.

“These collaborations are established so that Invest Selangor can assist the entrepreneurs in these three largest outlets.

“Potential entrepreneurs are encouraged to spread their wings to ASEAN markets such as to Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines,” he told the media after an exchange of documents ceremony between Invest Selangor and AEON, Lulu and ST Rosyam held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) here today.

The ceremony was led by Invest Selangor CEO Datuk Hasan Azhari and witnessed by Teng, who said that there will be an upcoming sales and supply contract to be awarded to 10 selected participants decided by the supermarkets.

He added that the supermarkets will be held responsible for the performance of the suppliers once the sales and supply contracts are signed.

“Participating supermarkets are also required to provide feedback on suppliers’ performance to the state government through Invest Selangor on a regular basis,” he said.

The seventh Selangor International Expo (F&B) 2021 is held in conjunction with the fifth Selangor International Business Summit 2021 (SIBS 2021), held from Nov 18 to 21, 2021. – Nov 20, 2021
