Is Muhyiddin’s son-in-law Muhammad Adlan Berhan on the run from MACC?

THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is currently tracking two men – including former premier and Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s son-in-law Muhammad Adlan Berhan – to assist in an investigation into corruption and misappropriation of fund related to the registration, recruitment and biometric storage of foreign workers in a ministry.

Apart from Muhammad Adlan, 48, the other individual is legal practitioner Mansoor Saat, 69, whose last address at 5 Jalan SS19/1C Subang Jaya, Selangor.

“Various efforts have been made by the MACC, including direct contact with both nominees and their respective lawyers, but they still failed to appear at the MACC office,” MACC pointed out in a media statement.

“The first individual, Muhammad Adlan has a last address at Lot 65, Sunway Kiara Hills, Jalan 32/70A Desa Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur.”

Mansoor Saat

As a result of MACC’s review with the Malaysian Immigration Department, both Muhammad Adlan and Mansoor are believed to have left Malaysia on May 17 and May 21 respectively with no record of re-entering the country.

“Accordingly, the public who know or have information about the individuals involved are requested to contact the investigating officer, Nur Muhammad Amin Jamaluddin at 603-88700799 or 016-4322 699 or e-mail to [email protected].

Muhyiddin denied family involvement

Recall that on Feb 9, Muhyiddin who is also the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman had denied any involvement in the award of a lucrative contract allegedly linking Muhammad Adlan to the Home Ministry.

The Pagoh MP further said he was never involved in the awarding of the National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) contract to IRIS Corp Bhd for which there had been an open tender. This is because he had no say when it came to such matters.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin

This was because the awarding of the contract was done in accordance with the government’s standard procedures which was supervised by the Finance Ministry and other relevant ministries.

This came following news report that the MACC was investigating the award on the grounds of possible abuse of power in NIISe.

Muhyiddin who himself had pleaded not guilty to four counts of abuse of power involving RM232. 5 mil as well two counts of money laundering involving RM195 mil has further stressed that none of his family members had any vested interest in IRIS Corporation – be it as a shareholder or company director.

“So how is it that my family members and I have been accused of abuse of power?”

Muhyiddin believed that the claim was part of a series of persecution orchestrated by the current unity government against the opposition, especially in the run-up to the Aug 12’s six state elections. – Aug 7, 2023
