Israeli targets to kill rival gang leader in M’sia

THE Israeli citizen Shalom Avitan who was apprehended by Malaysian police in Kuala Lumpur with six pistols and 200 rounds of ammunition allegedly came to Malaysia to assassinate the head of a rival criminal faction, linked to a violent feud in Israel.

This was revealed by The Times of Israel which said in a report yesterday (March 30) that several Hebrew-language news outlets identified the suspect as Avitan, an associate of the Musli brothers crime family.

The Mako news site reported that Avitan was en route to assassinate Eran Haya, head of a rival crime family.

The two syndicates have been engaged in a violent feud for months.

According to Channel 12 (in Israel), Avitan’s home, in Tel Aviv’s upscale Bavli neighbourhood, was the target of several grenades tossed by Haya’s men in mid-March, around when Haya (a rival crime family member) was said to have entered Malaysia.

However, the reports from Israel do not answer the more pressing questions here. Why did he need six guns and 200 bullets to execute one man?

The other question is: why did he wait so long and change hotels when his mission was supposed to be a quick one, that is, find his targets and eliminate them.

Malaysian authorities arrested three locals suspected of supplying firearms to Avitan. More arrests are to take place soon, the authorities said recently. – March 31, 2024
