WITH both UMNO and PAS escalating their feud as Johor state election nears, netizens warn the Islamist party that the former is going to “finish them off”, along with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
User Mandeep Singh said:
(Bersatu leaders are leaving the party one by one. Basically, UMNO is dismantling the party before the state polls. UMNO is planning to defeat Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in his own state)
Echoing Mandeep’s sentiments, user Saeda said Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin deserved what was coming due to his treachery.
(Serves Muhyiddin right! This is what happens when you betray your friends and work with traitors and robbers)
Netizen Baruto retorted:
(Treachery gets rewarded with treachery but what does Muhyiddin care. He is the chairman of the National Recovery Council and he is okay with that)
The upcoming Johor state election has triggered a bitter feud between UMNO-led Barisan Nasional and Bersatu-led Perikatan Nasional, with the latter accusing the former of unilaterally dissolving the state assembly.
UMNO also courted PAS’ fury after only offering four state seats for the party to contest, with the Islamist party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang accusing the former of being “ungrateful”. He also warned UMNO not to trigger more state elections or risk “retaliation” from Perikatan.
The feud intensified after two Johor Bersatu state assemblymen, Mazlan Bujang and Mohd Izhar Ahmad announced their exit from the party and voiced support for BN.
On that note, user Penjejak Pawi warned that once UMNO dominates national politics again, they will destroy the country by perpetuating corruption.
(This is dangerous, A revitalised UMNO will destroy Pakatan Harapan. Bersatu was supposed to divide the Malay votes but it now looks like UMNO is going to win. Once they regain power, they will save the ‘court cluster’ and Malaysia will go south due to corruption)
Netizen Humanity summed up on why a country becomes a failed state; when politicians practice treachery, corruption and ride on race and religious rhetoric.
PAS, an untrustworthy ally
On related matter, UMNO supreme council member Datuk Puad Zarkashi accused PAS of betraying his party by “playing both sides”.
“It was PAS that weakened the Muafakat Nasional (MN) charter by trying to have it both ways. They got carried away with their ministerial ranks that the party even sidelined their pro-MN leaders like Datuk Khairuddin Aman Razali and Nik Abduh Nik Aziz.
“PAS knows very well that we decided to go against Perikatan as Bersatu stabbed us in the back during the Sabah state election but they just don’t care,” he said.
With that, Puad said it was best for BN to move on its own as Perikatan leaders were prone to betray their own allies.
“The time will come when PAS will get stabbed in the back as there is no sincerity in Perikatan. By that time, it will be too late as the party will ‘drown’.
“In any case, history has shown that it is hard to trust PAS. That’s why they left Barisan Alternatif and Pakatan Rakyat back then,” the former deputy minister claimed. – Jan 30, 2022.
