Just 2 confirmed Covid-19 cases today, says Health DG

HEALTH director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced that there were only two new cases confirmed today, marking the lowest number of new daily cases since the start of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Again, there were no local transmissions among Malaysians, with the two cases being an imported case from Singapore, and a non-Malaysian who was tested during contact tracing for a previous case.

This brings the total number of cases in Malaysia to 8,338, including 1,206 active transmission cases. Of these, five are in intensive care units, with none needing ventilator support.

There were 39 recoveries today as well, bringing the total number of discharged patients to 7,014. One new death was also reported, bringing the death toll to 118.

Dr Noor Hisham also called for Malaysians to be careful when driving, citing rising numbers of road traffic accidents – up from 392.7 accidents per day during the first phase of the MCO from March 18 to March 31 to 870.7 in the second phase, the Conditional MCO, from May 13 to June 9. – June 10, 2020
