Kepong MP lodges police report against Hadi Awang’s racist statement

KEPONG MP Lim Lip Eng has reacted to the recent racist remarks by PAS president Tan Sri Hadi Awang by lodging a police report against the latter at the Kepong Police Station in Kuala Lumpur at 2.41pm today.

The DAP Kuala Lumpur State Committee secretary based his report to an article published by Malay news portal Malaysia Gazette entitled “Jangan biar kuasa politik Melayu terlucut akibat jahil: Hadi” (Don’t let Malay political power be lost due to ignorance: Hadi).

“In the article, Hadi has alleged, among others that the Malays were been openly conned and deceived due to their ignorance and carelessness,” Lim penned on his police report.

“I ask for his (Hadi’s) statement to be investigated under Sections 499, 504, 505(b) and 505(c) of the Penal Code, Sedition Act 1948, Communication and Multimedia Act 1998 and other relevant acts.”

Recall that yesterday (May 9), DAP’s retired supremo Lim Kit Siang had giving the Marang MP 48 hours to name the non-Muslim and non-Malay “plunderers” who “give and receive bribes”, conning the Malays and Muslims of their rights for over half a century.

“I would have thought that if Hadi is serious in believing that the Malays and Muslims had been conned for over half a century, he would hold Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as bearing the largest responsibility as the latter had been a prime minister (PM) for more than 24 years!” chided the veteran lawmaker.

“Yet, Hadi supports Mahathir’s “Malay Proclamation” to save the Malay race! Is Mahathir’s “Malay Proclamation” part of the non-Malay and non-Muslim con job to deceive and plunder the Malays and Muslims in Malaysia?”

Additionally, the Malaysian Indian Voice (MIV) – a HINDRAF (Hindu Rights Action Force) splinter group – also wanted the unity government of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to take drastic action against Hadi who continued to sow hatred by claiming that the Malays are incessantly being deceived by corrupt non-Muslims.

Describing such remarks as “unacceptable and dangerous”, MIV’s founder & advisor Papparaidu Veraman said Hadi’s call for Malays to unite as a race and the insinuation that they are being conned is divisive and can potentially harm the country’s social fabric.

“It is deeply concerning that a leader of a political party would use such language to gain cheap publicity and political advantage,” he pointed out in a media statement. “The Malaysian government must take action to prevent such harmful remarks from being made in the future by anyone in this country.” – May 11, 2023
