BARELY two-weeks after taking over the premiership, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s administration has come under fire on Twitter for its lacklustre and controversial start.
Among the issues netizens were livid about include Umno secretary general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan’s nomination to become Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker and Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s admission that COVID-19 deaths reported daily were inaccurate as there were backlogs.
“You know Dewan Rakyat is going to be a rubber stamp again with the appointment of this clown,” said user Miaoling Ng.
“Only in Malaysia, one alleged criminal after another indicted criminal (sic) getting important roles in KerajaanGagal2,” user Jeffrey Chiang added.
Ahmad Maslan has been charged in court on money laundering charges and providing false statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over RM2 mil he received during the tenure of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in 2013. The case is still on-going in court.
On COVID-19 death tally backlog, users derided the Government, with some accusing the Government of manipulating the numbers.
“I’ve been commenting since they declared Darurat (sic) until the deaths couldn’t cover anymore. #KerajaanGagal has been manipulating number of cases and Number of Deaths all this while.
“Wouldnt be surprised (sic) there’s 1-2 weeks we are hitting 80k case and 1k deaths daily,” said user Laffing_Gor.
User Ir Kumar retorted: “Backlog from previous days is not the issue as the total numbers are high every day. The record says 5,439 citizens died since 16th August 2021, after the #KerajaanGagal2 took over. Backlog or not, data confirms the total.”
On the cinema front, the Government received brickbats from social media users for allowing them to operate without clear SOP in place.
The confusion was so glaring that cinema operates Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) and TGV Cinemas (TGV) decided not to reopen until they get clear SOP guide from the authorities.
