AS DAP remains tight-lipped over the discounted pardon accorded by the Federal Territories Pardons Boards to incarcerated Datuk Seri Najib Razak, the party’s former publicity secretary Tony Pua Kiam Wee has proven his worth as a satirist par excellence by poking fun at Malaysia’s sixth premier and his once self-proclaimed first lady of Malaysia (FLOM).
“Oooh … UMNO Youth Chief wants police reports against “insolent” Pua… (update: and now the Pahang MB too! 🥵) I thought my days of police reports were over 😅” penned the former Damansara MP on his Facebook page. “And my missus is upset, so I better repent. 😥”.
Recall that Pua’s passing of sarcastic remarks on the former Pekan MP which entered the third day today (Feb 4) has boiled over to the extent that UMNO Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has rallied the movement to lodge a nationwide police report on the 51-year-old Oxford-trained graduate of philosophy, politics and economics.
Perhaps it is too soon to fathom whether what Pua is doing in his personal capacity is favourable or detrimental to DAP’s top leadership who has tied the knot with UMNO to ensure the longevity of the unity government.
What is understandable, however, is that Malaysia does owe it to Pua for sniffing out the 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Bhd) scandal more than a decade ago alongside now Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli.
Above all else, it does provide some solace to DAP die-hards or Pakatan Harapan (PH) loyalists who have been utterly disappointed with the halving of “King Klepto’s” prison term to six years along with a 72.6% reduction to his fine to a mere RM50 mil from RM210 mil.
Anyway, below is Pua’s latest sarcasm addressed to Najib whose release is now slated for Aug 29, 2028 with three more 1MDB-related cases pending aside from that of SRC International Sdn Bhd in which the Federal Court ruled out Najib’s appeal against seven charges of misappropriation of funds levelled at him on Aug 23, 2022:
Dear Najib,
I’m so excited to hear of your well-deserved 50% commuted sentence to 2028, and a 74% fine reduction from RM210mil. 🥳🎉
I’m also pleased to hear that for an additional year’s detention at HIs Majesty’s pleasure, you will further save a handsome RM50 million 💰💰💰. I am certain that you will use all these hard-earned savings to help all the orphans and the impoverished, as you have done in the past. 😇
What’s more, I understand that if you demonstrate ‘good behaviour’, you will enjoy greater discounts in your sentence! Gosh, we can look forward to you campaigning for UMNO in the 2027 General Elections! 💪💪💪
In the meantime, I also understand that your loving wife might soon join you for a couple of years to keep you company. 🥰💕
As for your outstanding cases on 1MDB. I’m not worried. After all, your former Deputy succeeded in getting himself a DNAA. In the worst-case scenario, we can ask for more discounts.
