LOTUSS Stores (M) Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia) (formerly Tesco Stores (M) Sdn Bhd) has a vacancy for 200 new local workforce in its Bukit Beruntung, Selangor Distribution Centre (DC), thus further affirming its commitment to creating employment in the country.
Incidentally, the Bukit Beruntung DC and Lotus’s other DC in Simpang Pulai, Perak has been fully managed and operated by Malaysians since November 2020 as a response to the Government’s call in creating employment for Malaysians following the high unemployment rate on the back of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Earlier this year, there had been some concerns about the employment status of Tesco colleagues once we have taken over. Rest assured, there are no plans for job cuts, and we will continue to be recruiting to support our growth aspirations and plans,” Lotus’s president Kenneth Chuah pointed out.
“The pandemic has put many people out of a job and in support of the Government’s initiative to create employment for Malaysians, we are offering 200 permanent positions for job seekers in our Bukit Beruntung DC.”
Malaysians aged 18 to 50 with a minimum education level of Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) or Penilaian Tingkatan 3 (PT3) and are willing to work shifts five days a week are welcome to apply.
Lotus’s said it also offers a yearly bonus, insurance, Employee Provident Fund (EPF) and Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) contributions.
“Lotus’s also welcome women to work in the DCs,” enthused Chuah. “As of today, over 30% colleagues who operate the machinery and drive the forklift are women. This is particularly significant as before 2020, Lotus’s DCs were predominantly managed by men.”

This is not the first time that Lotus’s has carried out a large-scaled employment drive for Malaysians. In April 2020, Lotus’s which was then Tesco, recruited over 600 local workers to meet the unprecedented demand during the first movement control order (MCO).
Having acquired Tesco Malaysia’s business in December 2020, Lotus’s has since assumed the operations of all existing Tesco stores, employing over 8,600 workers across one head office, two DCs, and 62 stores throughout Peninsular Malaysia.
