MAGGI’s campaign set to lift the spirits of the elderly for CNY

IN these trying times, it is the perfect opportunity to rekindle relationships and foster a spirit of togetherness as Chinese New Year approaches.

Aiming to spread joy and uplift the lives of senior citizens during this festive period, MAGGI® rolled out its Sajian Dikongsi, Kebahagiaan Dirai campaign, where proceeds from the campaign will be channelled towards a senior home welfare fund.

The funds will be utilised to support the needs of eleven elderly care homes across Malaysia by upgrading and repairing the facilities, improving the overall welfare of senior citizens with beddings, furniture and household items.

“We want to reach out and help raise the spirits of a very important community – our senior citizens in elderly care homes who are deeply impacted due to the restrictions on visitation to the homes,” said MAGGI® business executive officer Geetha Balakrishna.

“We are rallying all Malaysians to come together, so that all of us would be able to help make their Chinese New Year celebration just a little bit more special this year and uplift their spirits during this auspicious occasion,” she added.

Among the beneficiaries that will receive the contributions from the campaign include En Yuan Old Folks Home, Rumah Kebajikan Orang-Orang Tua Seri Permai, Perkampungan Rumah Sejahtera Warga Emas Islam, Pusat Jagaan Insan Emas Nur Hidayah and Persatuan Rumah Caring Kajang.

“A common issue that we’re facing throughout the COVID-19 pandemic is that some of our residents have felt increasingly isolated and lonely. Like any other year, they look forward to celebrate Chinese New Year with their families, friends and visitors with much joy and anticipation,” said En Yuan Old Folks Home secretary Stanley Yap.

Meanwhile, according to RUmah Kebajikan Orang-Orang Tua Seri Permai manager Mohammad Fauzi Ramli, there has been a decline in donations since the pandemic hit and as most of the residents are living with various health conditions, the cost of care has been on the rise.

“I am grateful that the support from MAGGI®, we will be able to improve the facilities for the elderly and ensure that their medical needs are met,” he said.

The Sajian Dikongsi, Kebahagiaan Dirai campaign will run until Feb 28, offering a total of RM350,000 worth of prizes.

Eligible Malaysians will be able to participate in the contest where 10 sen contribution will then be donated to the home welfare fund for every entry submitted. – Jan 30, 2021
