Ahmad Faizal Azumu retakes Perak MB post

DATUK Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has been confirmed as the Menteri Besar of Perak once again, with his swearing-in to take place at 3pm on March 13.

Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah is convinced that Ahmad Faizal retains the support of a significant portion of the state’s assemblypersons, and has thus consented that Ahmad Faizal is to continue as the state’s Menteri Besar.

“According to Article 16(2a), of the Perak Constitution, the ruler reasons that Ahmad Faizal, assemblyman of Chenderiang, has the support of a majority of the assemblypersons, and appoints him as the 13th Menteri Besar of Perak,” says Datuk Abdul Rahim Mohamad Nor, Comptroller of the Royal Family and Household of Perak, in a statement on March 13.

Ahmad Faizal had resigned on March 10 after the fall of the Pakatan Harapan government in Perak. It was also reported that Perikatan Nasional Perak had submitted the names of three candidates to Sultan Nazrin, with the two other candidates being state Umno chairperson Saarani Mohamad and PAS chief Razman Zakaria, according to Malaysiakini. – March 13, 2020
