COVID-19: Daily fatalities back to two-digits, 13 new clusters detected

THE Health Ministry announced 2,468 new COVID-19 infections and 14 deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that there were 4,055 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 256,678.

“We have a total number of 288, 229 infection cases as of now. Unfortunately, 14 people have lost their lives to the coronavirus, bringing the total death toll to 1,076,” he added.

Of the deceased, 13 were locals while the other was a foreigner.

Selangor still recorded the highest number of infections with 1,001, followed by Kelantan (257) and Johor (233).

On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has detected 13 new clusters in the country.

Eleven of them are workplace related, while the rest involves community transmission.

“With that, we have 509 active clusters. Eight clusters have ended today; which are Taman Kesedar, Jalan Manan, Bah Sayap, Dialisis Malim, Kampung Bukit Putera, Bersepadu, Kilang Setapak and Jalan Canang Emas. – Feb 23, 2021.
