Medac ramping up entrepreneurial activities in Melaka

THE Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (Medac) is working on establishing a Morten Walk Entrepreneur Hub in Kampung Morten, which aims to increase entrepreneurial activity in the state’s business climate.

This is part of the efforts of UDA Holdings Bhd’s aim to develop entrepreneur centres to improve the socio-economy status of the people.

The RM8 mil project will be built on 4.13 acres of land near the Melaka River, providing 100 rental lots with cabin-styled spaces for businesses such as food, beverages, fashion, accessories, miscellaneous retail and IT stores.

There will also be a multi-purpose hall that can accommodate 500 people and eleven additional facilities that include an arts and culture space and a children’s play area.

“It is hoped that the development of Morten Walk Entrepreneur Hub will create a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem in Kampung Morten and motivate local entrepreneurs to further expand their businesses and become more successful. I hope to see local entrepreneurs, in particular Bumiputera entrepreneurs, take this opportunity to operate in this strategic and conducive centre to improve their business status,” said Medac minister Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

He noted that the Entrepreneur Hub will also serve as a platform to reinforce product marketing efforts of small and medium-sized local enterprises (SMEs), and assist potential SME entrepreneurs under Medac agencies.

Meanwhile, being an agency under Medac, UDA chairman said: “The Entrepreneur Hub, which is expected to be operational in October this year, will offer assistance to eligible entrepreneurs in the form of rental rates below market price, management cost incentives, rental rebates and other facility benefits.”
