SMEs want policy continuity, transparency in new government

KUALA LUMPUR: The Small and Medium Enterprises Association (SAMENTA) Malaysia hopes the new government will place heavy weightage on policy continuity and transparency.

Chairman Datuk William Ng said the much-anticipated naming of a new cabinet would help to alleviate concerns of the business community given the global uncertainty due to COVID-19 and recent political uncertainties.

In a statement today, he said small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in general had seen a decline in business even before the virus outbreak due to the then-imminent trade war between the United States and China.

“COVID-19 made the situation very critical for our SMEs, which are already operating in an uncertain political environment amidst razor-thin margin.

“We pray that the new ministers will hit the ground running, and we stand ready to contribute ideas to revive our SMEs, and by extension, our economy,” he added. – March 9, 2020 – Bernama
