The despicable act of faking other people’s death

CONTROVERSIAL educationist and philanthropist Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing has become the latest prominent individual to join the rumour wagon as the latest COVID-19 casualty.

The 75 year-old founder of the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) in Cyberjaya is merely recuperating in hospital after a fall in his house, according to a media release issued by his higher learning institution.

“We are pleased to inform that his condition is stable and kindly request that he be given complete privacy so he can focus on his recovery,” LUCT senior vice president Datuk Gail Phung pointed out in the brief statement.

“Once again, we are grateful and fully appreciate every one’s interest in his well-being.”

Also coming to Lim’s defence is his ex-wife Tessie Louise Weller who described the viralling of Lim’s death as “irresponsible, heartless, and vicious”.

“Shame on you,” lamented Weller. “This man has family who love and care for him. It’s not about you people who have no life who take pleasure in running a man down, especially if he is unwell. Please STOP this rubbish gossip.”

Recall that Lim and Weller split ways by ending their 21-year marriage amicably in April 2007 with a divorce settlement that included an RM11.65 mil cash payment.

However, earlier today, Malaysia lost another prominent personality in its property circle with the demise of Paramount Corp Bhd chairman and executive director Datuk Teo Chiang Quan from COVID-19.

Teo, 72, passed away at 6.38pm yesterday due to health complications after battling COVID-19 for 21 days.

Earlier on May 15, Malaysian property veteran Michael Geh Thuan Peng who was president of FIABCI East Asia Multi National Chapter and Raine & Horne International Zaki + Partners Sdn Bhd senior partner, succumbed to the pandemic at the Penang General Hospital.

Penang-born Geh, 57, was tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to the hospital a few days earlier. – May 25, 2021
