MDEC calls on SMEs to boost digitalisation

EFFECTIVE digitalisation of Malaysia’s SMEs could add some RM99.4 bil the country’s economy by 2024, according to the Asia Pacific SMB Digital Maturity Study by Cisco.

As such, the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has come up with the  SME Digital Accelerator programme to enable SMEs embrace digitalisation in a structured, step-by-step manner.

Calling on SMEs to take digitalisation of their businesses to the next level by leveraging on the outcome-driven programme, the programme provide SMEs access to insightful guidance, financial incentives and capacity building to help them make the digital leap forward, the agency said in a press stamen today.

Signing up for the programme means businesses set to benefit being more competitive, have lower operations costs, better operational efficiencies, and increase their overall revenues, it added.

“Through the SME Digital Accelerator, we offer SMEs a structured approach to implement the right digital solutions that can help transform their business in terms of people, processes and  above all – mindset.

“Through the programme, we hope to further catalyse the digital transformation of our enterprise sector to sustainably benefit from the shared prosperity which our economy is moving towards,” explained MDEC chief executive officer Surina Shukri.

The three-month programme will be conducted in five phases – comprising the identification of pain-points or opportunities for SMEs in the digital space in relation to their businesses, implementation of suitable digital solutions, achievement of adoption benefits based on before and after results as well as tracking and monitoring the SMEs progress for impact assessment.

Registration for MDEC’s SME Digital Accelerator is now open for the 2020/21 intake and it is free for all SMEs incorporated in Malaysia. However, seats are limited per intake.
