MMANTAP partners with JR Joint Resources to revive ECRL mega-project

MMAG Holdings Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, MMANTAP Sdn Bhd entered into an exclusive partnership agreement with JR Joint Resources Holdings Sdn Bhd.

The partnership aims to provide total foreign management solutions of foreign worker to China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd (CCCERL), main contractor for the 640km East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project.

The joint venture is made possible through an agreement for recruiting, applying and managing foreign workers from source countries dated Mar 18, 2020 between JR and CCCECRL.

From there, JR was appointed to serve as consultant and service provider in respect of the ERCL project to recruit, supply and provide total management solutions of foreign workers.

Meanwhile, MMANTAP will be responsible for all information and communications technology (ICT) aspects, logistics and transportation of the workers to the designated sites and all financing aspects of JR regarding the implementation and execution of the ECRL agreement.

On the other hand, JR will be responsible in all negotiation with CCCECRL and the government of Malaysia as well as relevant stakeholders in or outside of the country.

“We aim to mobilise Malaysian and beyond, in which we want to help to reconnect the gap brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic,” MMAG chairman Rathakrishnan Vellaisamy said in a Sept 15 note.

“With our recent acquisition of MAASDOTS, we are able to provide the ready-to-be-integrated Travellers Advanced Health Screening System. (Hopefully, it) will get people moving again and revive the travel sector,” he added.

Rathakrishnan also mentioned that the partnership will help get the ECRL project back on track by supplying and managing the foreign workers required.
