N. Sembilan govt revenue to surpass RM490 mil this year

SEREMBAN: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun is confident the Negeri Sembilan government is capable of collecting a record RM490 mil in revenue by the end of the year.

He said so far, the state’s revenue collection has reached RM478.4 mil.

“In Budget 2019, the state government was expected to collect RM430 mil but as of today, we have exceeded it by RM484 mil. This is the highest revenue collection we have ever achieved. I am confident we can reach RM490 mil by Dec 31. This is a positive development and I hope revenue will continue to pour in until the end of the year.

“The earnings will be properly utilised for the people. Revenue collection for 2018 was RM421 mil,” he told reporters after chairing the Exco meeting here on Dec 11.

Aminuddin said the meteoric increase was due to several factors including improvement in the system including the commitment of civil servants to ensure there was no leakage.

In another development, he said the state government will track down the parties involved in dumping toxic waste into Sungai Anak Air Garam, Mambau near here, on Dec 9.

“Their irresponsible act caused the state government to spend a big sum on cleaning up the river quickly so that the contaminated water does not flow into Sungai Linggi, which is the main source of raw water for Negeri Sembilan,” he said.

He added that the clean-up had been carried out by Kualiti Alam and hoped the incident will not recur. – Bernama
