Najib: Silence not an option, address COVID-19 spike now!

STOP pussyfooting over COVID-19 and address the worried rakyat on the rise of the novel coronavirus outbreak.

“Silence is not an option. The Government needs to face the public and calm them. We cannot deny the fact that breaching the 100,000 mark will have a huge psychological impact on us.

“I believe the people are worried and angry now,” said former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, in a Facebook post.

Yesterday, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced that Malaysia now has 100,318 COVID-19 infection cases.

The nation has been recording four-digit infections cases daily for the last few weeks. The Government also raised eyebrows when it relaxed movement control measures despite the rise in infection.

Najib said that the public seem to be exasperated by the rising number of infection cases, adding the Government’s silence on the matter was not helping.

“I believe the Government should face the public, by calling for a special address, to inform the latter of the real situation and announce more measures to stem the rise of COVID-19.

“It is important for the Government to keep people calm so they would continue to feel safe and secure,” added the Pekan MP. – Dec 25, 2020.
