Netizens chide SC for absolving Azam Baki, remind them of the Hereafter

WHILE Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob urged everyone to respect the Securities Commission’s (SC) decision to absolve the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner of any wrongdoings, netizens were not having any of it.

(The upper class can do anything and get away with it. Commoners like you and I have to plead guilty despite being innocent. My condolences to integrity and corrupt-free Malaysia)

User Arin Muhammad added:

However, netizen Akaun Rasmi responded to Arin saying:

(You think these people believe in the Hereafter? They only use religion to masquerade themselves. Their heaven is right here in the world. By right, their Hell should be here too)

On Tuesday, the SC issued a statement saying it has not been able to establish whether there was a breach of regulation in the controversial acquisition of public shares related to Azam, who had openly admitted that his brother Nasir Baki had used his Central Depository System (CDS) account to purchase securities in two public-listed companies in 2015-2016 (Gets Global Bhd and Excel Force MSC Bhd).

But yesterday, SC issued another statement saying Azam did not breach of Section 25(4) of the Securities Industry (Central Depositories) Act 1991 (SICDA).

SC’s statements did not escape public scrutiny, with many Opposition politicians hurling brickbats at the agency for issuing bizarre statements.

“Azam himself had said that his brother Nasir Baki ‘uses’ his personal CDS account for stock trading.

“And it is ridiculous to state that a trade transaction conducted in 2015-2016 cannot be traced and verified.

“This is unlike 1972 when I first learned how to file a stock market report. Back then, trade transaction was written on blackboards and kept in ledger. We are now living in a digital world, my dear ladies and gentlemen,” former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia leader A Kadir Jasin lashed out.

Keep up with the struggle, Malaysians

This morning, Ismail Sabri urged everyone to accept SC’s decision and urged concerned parties to seek clarification from the latter if they needed further information.

Touching on the matter, user One-ni-ta urged the public not to give on Malaysia and continue the struggle to improve the nation.

“We can be extremely mad with all this nonsense but we shall never give up on Malaysia. Kalau kena mula dari awal, kita rest dan mula semula (if needed, let us start all over again).”

Netizen Deli1212 posted a saying attributed to Indonesia first president Sukarno which reads: “Bangsa sendiri yang mencuri hak bangsanya tapi dia akan tuduh bangsa lain supaya dia bebas terus mencuri. Negara hancur kerana adanya para pengkhianat bangsa sendiri.”

(The people of their own race steal from them but they will blame other communities so that they can continue plundering. The country gets destroyed because there are traitors among their own people) – Jan 20, 2022
