IT APPEARS that trouble just seem to follow certain people everywhere.
Fresh from the Aunty Anne’e controversy, Alice Chang has now been apparently dismissed by Nando’s after just one day in the job!
In case some are still in the dark, Chang had published photos of her kissing the dough used to make the pretzels at the Aunty Anne’s outlet in MidValley where she was employed.
The photos went viral resulting in Chang’s dismissal and the outlet being closed for a thorough disinfecting and cleaning process.
Some netizens had said perhaps that Chang had learned her lesson and not repeat the same stunt but it would appear that this would be wishful thinking.
A statement by Nando’s said that Chang had been dismissed after failing to disclose previous employment history. Furthermore, she published photos of the restaurant’s “confidential” areas which is in contravention of company policy.
The outlet has also taken the extra precautionary measure of cleaning and disinfecting the outlet.
Shared on the Meanwhile in Malaysia Facebook forum, netizens reacted in disbelief at Chang’s flagrant disregard of workplace protocols.
Some alluded to her twin sister Adeline Chang who is infamous for trying to scam e-hailing drivers by claiming she had insufficient funds to pay the fare, hence wondering if the entire family suffered from mental health issues.
Some netizens who saw the funny side that since every outlet seems to carry out cleaning and disinfecting of premises, suggested that perhaps Chang could seek work as a health inspector with the Malaysian Health Ministry.
Nando’s aside, the post on Meanwhile in Malaysia further stated that Chang had also been fired from another job at McDonald’s with a few netizens claiming that the young lady had again created issues with false accusations which she uploaded onto social media.
One netizen wondered aloud if Chang was trying to create some new record – “for being fired from work the most number 0f times!”
One netizen called on previous commenters who defended Chang that she should be given another chance to wake up and smell the coffee as she obviously not learnt her lesson.
Some cynical netizens openly asked if food outlets hiring this young lady after the Aunty Anne’s scandal are looking for cheap publicity.
Judging from the actions and continued inappropriate posts by Chang herself – aligned with the actions of her sister – the question that needs to be asked is whether the Chang sisters are product of a society obsessed with social media.
Are they seeking some sort of internet infamy from their notoriety?
While there are two sides to every story, it does seem that Alice Chang has painted herself somewhat into a tight corner with her repeated faux pas. – Oct 18, 2024
