Netizens post cheeky replies over Dr M and Najib’s spar on RM100 mil land request

WITH former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad claiming that his office space at the Perdana Leadership Foundation (PLF) was for all ex-premiers, his protégé-turned-nemesis Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak cheekily asked him whether he could share the office space with the former.

When queried by Malaysiakini yesterday, Najib said he was unsure of Mahathir’s claim, adding he would not mind sharing the office space with him.

“But he said the PLF is for all prime ministers to use. Maybe he is inviting me to use the PLF.”

And the Pekan MP replied with a smirk: “I could use it for a day or two.”

Najib’s cheeky comment was not missed by netizens, who had their own sarcastic reply to the duo.

Recently, Opposition leaders created a ruckus after it was found that Najib had applied for a plot of land and housing worth RM100 mil with the Government, under a Cabinet decision made during the first stint of Mahathir’s premiership where ex-prime minister’s can request for land or house as a reward for their contributions.

The issue came to light after Mahathir himself asked the Government to confirm Najib’s request during a recent Parliament sitting.

No need to entertain the duo

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz confirmed it and said the matter was still being discussed, despite Najib getting convicted on graft charges last year.

However, Najib said yesterday that he had rescinded on his request, adding the priority now was the wellbeing of the people.

On that note, user Raphael Mawatkoh said he was livid on how a convicted felon was still getting entitled to Government benefits.

User Niki Yeoh remarked: “Tok Madir and Pak Jibby are both super wealthy from all the money they collected (whether legally or illegally) during their tenure as PM.

“No need to print more ringgit for them or any ex-PMs to spend.” – Nov 20, 2021
