Netizens questions Government’s baju Rahmah initiative

WITH the success of the Menu Rahmah, Domestic Trade and Living Costs Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub wants to expand the concept to other sectors of the economy, including an initiative to have ‘baju’ Rahmah for the upcoming Hari Raya.

The idea will be discussed by his office with a prominent clothing store, said Salahuddin in a Twitter post.

In his tweet, @MyDSA_official said:

(I contacted the management of a prominent clothing store in the country this afternoon (Feb 11). My wish for this company is to consider RAHMAH’s price offer for this year’s Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration. We will meet at the KPDN office next week.)

Nevertheless, netizens are not sure what this will exactly turn out to be, with some perhaps ignorantly asking if the baju for Raya will be sold at the same rate as the Menu Rahmah, which is RM5.

Twitter user @arepow2 said:

(We can tell if our food is okay or otherwise. A thorough check is needed if we’re talking about baju Rahmah.)

User @afifshukri29 suggested something else:

The user urged the Government to extend the Rahmah initiative to tuition classes for all students.

(With a cheap price while getting rewards in the hereafter. Use school facilities. And compensate the teachers who will volunteer.)

While user @azrin6199 went ballistic:

(Everyone wants to live a long life, not just for Raya, thus the Government should try the Rahmah initiative for homes, fuel, supermarket, supplies and etc.

(It is not be possible, right? Because the cost of goods is controlled by tycoons. What’s the point of being a minister?) — Feb 12, 2023
