No cooperation with Azmin and his ilk, PKR affirms

PKR would neither negotiate nor cooperate with former deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Azmin Ali and his supporters who masterminded the Sheraton Move.

“The PKR supreme council had a meeting last night to discuss various issues, including the recently concluded party polls and our upcoming national congress.

“In the meeting, the party leadership had firmly stated that it would not work with Azmin and his ilk who were part of the Sheraton Move,” its communications director Fahmi Fadzil said, in a statement.

On June 17, Malaysiakini alleged that Azmin had met two emissaries from PKR recently about the former’s future in Bersatu.

Citing sources, the portal claimed that the Gombak MP was attempting to get some “insurance” for his political future. It was also indicated that Anwar was aware of the meeting that took place.

However, Azmin issued a statement later reiterating his commitment to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, a party he joined in 2020 after defecting from PKR.

Meanwhile, Fahmi said the party would hold its national congress on July 16 and 17 as scheduled, at the IDEAL Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam.

“The women’s wing and youth wing congress will take place at the same venue on July 15.

“Our theme will revolve around the party’s preparation for the upcoming 15th General Election as we believe the Parliament will be dissolved anytime after July 31.

“And once we have audited the recently concluded polls results, the party elections committee will announce the new leadership team officially so that they could get to work immediately for the upcoming general election,” the Lembah Pantai MP remarked. – June 21, 2022
