YOURS truly would have brushed aside this intriguing article entitled “Ini 8 Sebab Sebenar Kenapa Lelaki Melayu Suka Amoi Cina” in the Malaysia Harmoni portal as a trivial or a tabloid quality post if not for the figure “8” and “Amoi Cina”.
Diving deeper into the article, however, yours truly ended up being impressed that his Malay counterparts are now looking beyond physical charm in their evaluation of beauty by increasingly placing intellectual capacity and personality in their admiration of Chinese girls.
This is contrary to popular belief that Malay men tend to be blindly charmed by the physique of Chinese girls.
The four so-called non-physical attributes highlighted by Malaysia Harmoni are:
- Ability to converse in three languages (multilingual): This justification is based on the fact that most Chinese girls are able to at least speak Malay and English apart from their mother tongue (Mandarin or own dialects).

- Good in financial management and prudent in spending: Malaysia Harmoni rationalised that given the fact that many Chinese families are indulged in business dealings, knowledge of financial management is often passed down from one generation to another, hence this becomes a second nature to most Chinese girls.
“This is the latest revelation shared by some Malay men who have Chinese life partners,” the portal pointed out.
- Less grumpy personality: Although this is subjective, Malaysia Harmoni claims that Chinese girls tend to nag less as well as are less pretentious (gedik/manja) – a trait very much despised by Malay men.
“Chinese girls are happy so long as the man is loyal and treat them with respect,” observed the portal. “Moreover, Chinese girls are very friendly and tend to be happy-go-lucky.”
Obviously, yours truly don’t wish to elaborate in detail the other four physique-related reasons which he deems as common sense to many (ie fair and soft skin; slim/hourglass-shaped waist; elegance/ability to dress beautifully; and possessing silky and exquisite hair style).
