THIS certainly takes the cake.
Coincidentally as some politicians are pushing for a “united” Malay front consisting of three parties – UMNO, PAS and Bersatu – some have decided that the best way to convince the ummah (Muslim solidarity) is with a decree mandated via dreams!
Yes, that’s right. PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhil Shaari has openly stated on his social media platforms that he believes in the dreams espoused by PAS supremo Tan Sri Hadi Awang in which the latter purportedly received “instructions” from the Prophet to unite Muslims.
However, a somehow pro-Madani backer Abang aji🪵(@apanakdikato) ridiculed both PAS lawmakers for creating such bombastic stories to attract Malay support.
“It’s not impossible that after this, there’ll be a story of Hadi meeting the angel (malaikat) next,” teased Abang aji🪵.
Selepas sedar sokongan melayu semakin merosot, PAS keluar cerita bombastik utk tarik sokongan melayu semula.
Tk mustahil lps ni, keluar cerita hadi jumpa malaikat pulak. pic.twitter.com/ZAyycoe6kA

A few commenters reckoned that it was either PAS “is out of its mind” or such was “a desperate attempt to fish for Malay support”.
With one stating that this tactic harping on “heaven and hell” would work wonders among the gullible.
One said it was a means of getting the flock to blindly follow the 77-year-old, seven-term Marang MP’s words by equating them to that of learned, holy men.
With some commenters also berating PAS Non-Muslim Supporters Wing (DHPP) information chief Dr Balachandran Gopal Krishnan who made similar claims recently.
Another lamented that the Malays were too easily swayed when it comes to matters of race and religion.
One netizen said that the conservative element referred to as walaun (slang for diehard PAS supporters) would bring the country to its knees with their backward thinking.
Another pointedly asked if there were no Muslims in the ruling coalition, hinting that PAS was suggesting that only its members were pious enough to receive such divine messages.
A few observed that if indeed the dream was genuine, it was a private matter that should be kept secret and not used as public declarations.
More than one said such proclamations made the party reek of a cult and were guilty of deviationist teachings. A few equated it with the late Abuya (Ashaari Muhammad) of the outlawed Al-Arqam cult.
One netizen summed up the sentiments of many who insinuated that this was the modus operandi of a political party that was bereft of ideas.
Instead of attending parliamentary sessions or being an effective opposition, it sought to take the moral high ground. It does this by riding on the coattails of religion. Now it seems it wants to ride on the coattails of dreams. – Nov 6, 2024
