NOTHING to do with his ancestral past this time around yet Muslim convert preacher Ridhuan Tee Abdulah can never cease from stepping onto someone’s raw nerve.
This time around, Muslim Madani backers – in a rare rebuttal – have hit out at him for turning the funeral of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali on Monday (Sept 28) into a pollical playground.
Instead of respecting the state funeral as a solemn occasion whereby the entire nation mourned over the demise of the 100-year-old former ‘first lady’, the Muafakat Nasional deputy president was accused of weaponising the glimpses of ‘reconciliation’ between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“Yesterday (Monday. Sept 28)), I managed to reach the As-Syarif Mosque (in Taman Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur) before 4pm to pay my respects to the late Tun Siti Hasmah,” penned Ridhuan on his Facebook page.
I witnessed the behaviour of those in power. During her lifetime, she was ignored even during the Merdeka Day celebration yet now that she has passed on, they suddenly want to appear virtuous.
It is truly saddening to witness such worldly posturing. The late Tun Daim (Zainuddin), too, faced relentless pressure right up to the end of his life – a situation that continues without resolution.
I’ve come to understand the nature of the world of the powerful: they only remember and try to appear grand after someone has died.
While the person was alive, they remained indifferent despite the individual’s contributions. Is this the game of the world in this end of days period? I still remember her advice: don’t forget to spread the message of Islam till Korea. God willing, I will try …
Two sides of the coin
Although there may be a grain of truth in his account, the pro-Madani faction and even fair-minded Muslims viewed the action of the former Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) professor as both misplaced and disrespectful to the family of twice former premier Dr Mahathir.
“Sad to see the former speaker of the Forum Hal Ehwal Islam (programme on RTM) making such a post,” lamented digital content creator Mohd Zulhafidz Yahaya (@zulhafidzyahaya) on Threads.

The avid Threader further recalled his earlier post in which he penned, “two people with Allah’s permission and His will are reunited again in a gathering full of reflection, a funeral ceremony, a memorial event which we’ll all go through, too”.
Interestingly, Ridhuan has his own supporters who vouched that “he stated the fact; as to whether we agree or not is up to our respective faith”.
Another seconded that “what he said is more or less true but it’s just the timing that didn’t match”.
“Tun Daim was treated in such an insulting manner until the end of his life. As if he never contributed anything to the country,” she jibed.
“In the end, there was no evidence that could be pinned on the late Tun Daim; instead (his wife) Tun Naimah sued the government for false allegations. This is so embarrassing.”
Elsewhere, social media influencer Syed Akramin (@syedakramin) is saddened by the behaviour of Ridhuan who never ceased from inculcating hatred.
“It’s sad to see the behaviour of this Ridhuan Tee. Even when visiting the deceased, he still managed to spread slander and sow hatred. I hope his heart can be cleansed.”

If there’s a proposal to deport the Chinese back to China, I suggest that the first Chinese we send back is Ridhuan Tee.
He studies religion highly but has bad morals. May Allah repay the evil tongue and fingers of Ridhuan who thinks badly of fellow Muslims. This is an example of a Chinese who should not live in our beloved Malaysia. – Sept 30, 2026
