22 Selangor Bersatu divisions gang up to lodge police reports against Anwar, Zahid

ALL 22 Bersatu divisions in Selangor have lodged police reports against Prime Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy PM Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi following ‘unsubstantiated’ allegations made against the party’s president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Selangor Bersatu chairman Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari claimed that Anwar, Zahid and their associates were attempting to topple and cripple Perikatan Nasional (PN) prior to the state elections.

“This includes freezing Bersatu’s account and dragging our leaders to court,” Free Malaysia Today reported him as saying at the Shah Alam district police headquarters today.

Rashid further alleged that the leaders “pre-empted” the authorities and “kept modifying” the amount of funds that Muhyiddin was accused of having misappropriated.

“Muhyiddin was first accused of misappropriating RM600 bil when he was the PM, which amount was then reduced to RM530 bil, then RM92.5 bil, then RM4.5 bil and, eventually, RM300 mil,” he added.

“As the PM, (Anwar) has to be careful when making statements. He should have the facts first because people will listen to him.”

Rashid said the police reports would be lodged separately by the Bersatu division chiefs in Selangor.

Earlier this month, Muhyiddin was charged with four counts of abuse of power and three counts of money laundering. — March 17, 2023
