THERE might be another Cabinet shake-up on the cards and a prominent minister could be dropped from the Cabinet, according to a news portal, citing unnamed sources in the know.
Free Malaysia Today reported the well-placed source from PKR as saying that the minister could be moved to another ministry or dropped from the Cabinet.
The person’s performance has been in question, and the individual is expected to be removed or shifted to another ministry, he told the news portal.
A menteri besar is believed to be taking a ministerial post, a move that was talked about before the Cabinet reshuffle in December.
The possibility of him being moved to the federal government now is higher. At the state level, several assemblymen are in the know about this, the source added.
The news portal also quoted another source from DAP as saying that there has been talk of a Cabinet reshuffle, which could take place by the end of August, with a couple of deputy ministers set to be promoted to ministerial roles.
“The talk was initially for the reshuffle to happen by the end of this month, so we just have to wait and see; in politics, anything can happen,” the source reportedly said.
The Cabinet was last reshuffled in December last year and expanded from 29 ministers to 31.
DAP’s V. Sivakumar was axed as the human resources minister while two returned as ministers – Amanah’s Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad as the Health Minister and UMNO’s Datuk Seri Johari Ghani as Plantation and Commodities Minister.
In the reshuffle, several ministers also swapped portfolios. – Aug 12, 2024
