PARTI Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) and the Perikatan Nasional (PN) were warned by Economy Minister and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Deputy President Rafizi Ramli that their attempts to seize power in Selangor will fail while he intervened during the State of Selangor’s Election Convention’s launch at the Ideal Convention Center (IDCC) in Shah Alam.
Rafizi claimed that the PAS and PN believe they are riding high on the so-called “green wave” and that they will soon seize control of Malaysia’s richest state.
“PAS feels that the party is so great that the ‘current’ green wave is now undermining Selangor’s position (adding pressure on Pakatan Harapan) to the point that PAS feels capable of seizing the state from the PH government.”
But he cautions that PH Selangor has a potent formula to preserve their hold on power, therefore, the plans by PAS to control Selangor won’t happen in the next state election (PRN). He did not elaborate on the formula, however.
“With PAS, we know the character, and if we see PAS on social media, their level of confidence is high, like as if they defeated France playing football though their strength and skills are not much elaborated on social media, but it seems they want to take over Malaysia,” he said today in front of a large crowd of Selangor State Branch Representatives.
PH first took Selangor at the 2008 election when the pact was known as Pakatan Rakyat and was composed of the PKR, PAS, and the Democratic Action Party (DAP).
Right after the general elections on Nov 19, analysts argued that it is difficult to see a ‘green wave’ or PN wave in Selangor.
They said it is difficult to imagine a “green tsunami” occurring in Selangor because the state has numerous urban areas and a sizable non-Malay population.
Nevertheless, Rafizi insisted that PAS will not win in Selangor.
He reminded the Selangor State Branch Representatives not to entertain PAS’s ‘excitement’ about the green wave that is said to be ‘now heading’ into Selangor.
“Friends remember this is a green wave in the north, don’t worry, I want to give my personal opinion that God willing we will defend Selangor in style.
“We will shock the PN, because we know how to deal with the anger of the people, how to defend Selangor,” he added. — Jan 14, 2023
