Rafizi threatens to sue Madani gov’t for abuse of power

FORMER economy minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has warned he will sue the government for abuse of power if allegations of misconduct involving a RM1.1bil agreement with ARM Holdings do not lead to formal charges against him.

He said taking the matter to court would allow him to drag the ministers and officials involved in the ARM deal to court as part of his defence.

Rafizi also maintains there is no evidence he abused his position or benefitted financially and said he is ready for the case to go to court so he can present his evidence and compel all involved parties to testify.

“But if this issue does not end with me getting arrested or charged in court, I want to sue the government for abusing (its power) and fabricating (allegations) in an attempt to assassinate my character,” he said in his latest podcast Yang Berhenti Menteri last night (Feb 20).

The claims linked to the Silicon Vision Programme and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), both approved through multiple government layers, are politically driven, he maintained.

The Silicon Vision Programme involves a government partnership with ARM Holdings to develop Malaysia’s first semiconductor chips, while the NETR sets long‑term energy transition goals and major green‑industry investments.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is probing the deal after complaints by some non-governmental organisations that it was concluded hastily and without key ministerial approval.

Rafizi also plans legal action against influencer Caprice over separate allegations.

Yesterday, Caprice sent a letter of demand to Rafizi, where he demanded that Rafizi withdraw his posting on him and publicly apologise to him, failing which he would proceed with the legal action against Rafizi. — Feb 21, 2026
