Report: MOH didn’t give us proper answers on my son’s death, Vijayarani says

THE parents of late N Revnesh Kumar said they were dissatisfied with the Health Ministry’s (MOH) failure to identify the cause of their son’s untimely demise, a month after he died.

According to a report by health news portal Code Blue, both G Vijayaran and her husband L Naresh Kumar, however, were willing to wait until Revnesh’s autopsy and test reports get presented and discussed by forensic experts in a peer review session scheduled tomorrow.

“We are not completely happy and satisfied with the explanation,” Vijayarani said in an interview yesterday, following a meeting Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin at the MOH headquarters in Putrajaya.

“It was just a short session in the ministry with the minister, Health Ministry director-general [Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah], and a forensic expert.

“Until now, we don’t know the cause of my son’s death. We in fact asked YB (Khairy) why my son died. He also doesn’t know the reason,” she stated.

On Jan 16, Revnesh collapsed and died in an apartment lift, 18 days after he received his first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine on Dec 30.

A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Malaysia Tamilar Munnetra Kalagam alleged that when Revnesh’s body was taken to the Serdang Hospital for autopsy, they found neither organ damage nor infections.

However, a soft tissue behind the walls of Revnesh’s heart had hardened.

A police report was lodged by Revnesh’s parents at Precinct 7, Putrajaya on Feb 1 as they believed that their son’s death was related to his first dose of the vaccine.

According to the police report sighted by FocusM, Vijayamani alleged that the nurse who had administered the vaccine did not allow her to check or take a picture of the vaccine’s expiry date.

Plus, Revnesh’s death certificate did not indicate the cause of his death, merely indicating at the column as “Pending for Laboratory Investigation”. The parents were also informed that it will take six months for the post-mortem report to be released.

MOH only stepped in after the media highlighted the parents’ plight.

Yesterday, Khairy mentioned that Revnesh’s post-mortem and test results, including a histological examination, will be discussed by forensic experts in a peer review session tomorrow.

However, Vijayarani said she is unable to accept MOH’s explanation because she believes that current health technology in Malaysia could easily identify the cause of her son’s death.

“Why is my son’s cause of death not identified yet? Is our country’s health technology not developed?” she queried.

 Tell us the truth

Vijayarani also dismissed Noor Hisham’s explanation that COVID-19 vaccine’s side effects would have appeared within 48 hours, adding she had read articles indicating that the side effects will appear within 30 days after vaccination.

On that note, Vijayarani stressed that Revnesh was an active teenager without any underlying health conditions and hospitalisation history. She added that Revnesh was not allergic to medicines either.

“Revnesh was also active in sports activities and had completed the preliminary stage in karate by earning a white belt and he was about to get ready for upgrading his level in that sport.

“I took care of my son carefully for the first two weeks after receiving his first jab. I did not even allow him to do any chores,” she quipped.

The grieving mother then urged MOH to reveal the real reason behind her son’s death, without falsely attributing it to diseases.

“Just give us a direct answer. Don’t tell my son had some sickness. As a mother, I know how healthy my son was.

“We don’t want those in authority or power to simply come up with reasons that do not exist in the first place. My son has died. He is not going to return. So please don’t simply give reasons,” Vijayarani remarked. – March 6, 2022.
