Report: Shebby Singh’s son dispels claims his father died due to booster shot

NATIONAL footballer Serbegeth Singh’s death was due to a heart attack and not linked to a COVID-19 booster shot taken five days before he died as being speculated on social media, his son Sonuljit Singh clarified.

According to a report by Free Malaysia Today, Sonuljit said social media users were being irresponsible by linking his father’s demise to the booster shot.

“He had it on Jan 7 and left us five days later as everyone knows. We do not know what booster shot he had taken as the MySejahtera app had not been updated yet.

“But the doctors told us the cause of his death was 99% related to a heart attack as his post-mortem showed three of his coronary arteries having blockages.

“All his vital organs were in perfect working condition and there were also no signs of an allergic reaction,” he was quoted as saying.

Serbegeth, popularly known as Shebby, died while cycling in Iskandar Puteri here on Jan 12. He was only 61 years of age.

On Jan 13, blogger Joe Fern, among others, alleged that the Government would deny that Serbegeth’s untimely demise was due to the booster shot.

“They will claim that he died after not resting for at least three weeks from the third dose. It’s known from media reports that vaccination, like exercise, affects the heart.

“The organ may be inflamed temporarily, or permanently, after the vaccine. It won’t be able to cope with exercise carried out within three weeks of a dose,” Fern claimed.

Family has bad health history

On that note, Sonuljit said that his father had cardiac fibrosis and it was almost certain that he may have had a silent heart attack some time ago, considering the severe blockages in his arteries.

“His father, siblings and many of his relatives have a history of similar ailment which makes them all fall in the high-risk category.

“My father’s family’s medical history is bad. His heart was ready to go at any time and it had nothing to do with the booster shot,” he stressed.

Sonuljit added that Serbegeth also suffered from diabetes two years ago but managed to bring it down to a healthy level and had it under control without medication for some time due to sheer discipline.

“Please show some respect to my late father and my family instead of spreading unverified information,” he quipped. – Jan 16, 2022.
