Saifuddin Abdullah contracts COVID-19, under quarantine now

COMMUNICATIONS and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah has tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing screening on Wednesday.

“The minister will be under quarantine for a period of time and monitored by the Health Ministry (MOH), before being taken to a hospital.

“During the period, the minister will continue overseeing his ministry’s work to ensure no disruptions take place,” the ministry said in a statement earlier today.

With that, the Indera Mahkota MP apologised for the inconvenience caused and urged everyone to pray for his speedy recovery.

“And we would like to state that Saifuddin did not attend the Cabinet meeting yesterday,” it stressed.

Since last year, five ministers have contracted the coronavirus, including Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Datuk Seri Rina Harun, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin and deputy minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin. – April 29, 2021
