Selangor contributes the most to M’sia record-high number of COVID-19 cases

MALAYSIA continues to surprise its own rakyat as the Health Ministry reported a record-high number of new positive COVID-19 cases today at 5,725 from yesterday’s 4,094, with Selangor still being the worst of the bunch at 3,126.

However, Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah reported that there were 3,423 recoveries today, adding to the current total number of discharged patients of 157,722.

Unfortunately, there are still 45,478 active cases with 301 patients in the intensive care unit and 115 requiring respiratory assistance.

The 16 deaths today brings the total number of fatalities to 733.

Trailing Selangor as second highest number of new positive cases reported is Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur at 687, followed closely by Johor at 684.

Sabah is still experiencing new cases by the hundreds at 288, followed by Sarawak (179), Terengganu (137), Kedah (125), Penang (99), Kelantan (93), Melaka (74), Perak (73), Negeri Sembilan (69), Pahang (67), Putrajaya (16), Labuan (5) and Perlis (3). – Jan 29, 2021
