SELANGOR Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has tabled a RM2.53 bil state budget for 2024.
In the 2024 state budget, themed “Selangor Mandiri: Driving Progress, Igniting Unity”, RM1.33 bil, or 52.6% will go towards administrative expenses while RM1.3 bil or 47.4% will be allocated for development.
According to Amirudin who tabled the budget at the state assembly sitting today (Nov 10), the state government is aiming for a RM2.2 bil revenue collection in 2024.
He said his administration believes this estimate was achievable, taking into consideration this year’s revenue having hit the RM2 bil mark as early as August.
“One of the main contributors to the state revenue in 2024 is land premium, amounting to RM890.94 mil. This is equivalent to 40.5% of the total estimated revenue,” Amirudin remarked.
He also said that land tax is the second biggest contributor for Selangor’s revenue at RM622.65 mil, or 28.3%.
According to Amirudin, the state budget 2024 will have a deficit of RM330 mil, which is RM120 mil less than this year’s state budget deficit of RM450 mil.
He noted that although the state’s last six budgets were all in deficit, the Selangor government will take the necessary measures to decrease the amount. – Nov 10, 2023
