Sime Darby Plantation confirms Megat Najmuddin as chairman

MEGAT Najmuddin Megat Khas is the new chairman of Sime Darby Plantation Bhd (SDP) effective July 1.

This confirms a May 28 report by FocusM that the Bersatu man, who is also a close associate of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, has been tipped to lead SDP, which is the world’s largest oil palm plantation company. 

Megat Najmuddin replaces Abdul Ghani Othman who has stepped down as chairman and board member today, SDP said in a statement today. 

Megat Najmuddin currently holds chairmanship in a number of publicly listed and private companies as well as non-governmental organisations including as chairman of Asian Pac Holdings Bhd, SEG International Bhd, Green Venture Capital Sdn Bhd, Ulink Ascot Sdn Bhd and Malaysian Institute of Management. He is also the president of Federation of Public Listed Companies Bhd.

SDP’s shares dropped 1.01% to RM4.90 at the midday break. – June 30, 2020
