Siti Kasim dares Malaysians to dump PMX, PH; Zaid nominates Tengku Maimun as next PM

SITI Kasim is rallying Malaysians to think outside the box in view of their constant fear surrounding the question – “If no Anwar, no PH (Pakatan Harapan), then who else?”

This is because such concern drummed up to distance them from the opposition Perikatan Nasional (PN) will eventually prevent Malaysia from having a solid government in the future.

“Many of us are against PN – and that includes me who is never a fan of PAS – to helm the country but if think logically, we’re a democratic country with election every five years,” ranted the social activist and lawyer in her latest YouTube video.

“The problem with us is we’ll have difficulty to advance in view of our lack of high-level thinking … If we’ve given PMX (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) and his Madani government a chance to shine yet they falter after almost three years, then it’s time to boot them out come GE16 (16th General Election).

“We must teach our politicians that there is a price to pay for failing to deliver their promises … We should showcase our power as the rakyat to seek change of government if we’re unsatisfied with performance of the PH-BN (Barisan Nasional) led administration.”

Siti Kasim further clarified unfounded concerns that “if PAS rules, Malaysia will become a Taliban or radical Muslim country”.

“We’ve the Federal Constitution, law and legislations that cannot be arbitrarily amended … It’s not easy to make Malaysia a Taliban or Islamic state overnight.

“They can try but there are liberal-thinking people like me and others (political/human rights activists, legal experts, the Malaysian Bar, DAP, etc) who will challenge them in the court of law.

“I’ve faith on our court system that we still have calibre judges around … More importantly is that we must change our way of thinking that nobody is indispensable – just dump them if they fail to deliver so that in the future, they will be more careful by not making empty promises again.”

Tengku Maimn as PM?

Added the Orang Asli advocate: “Who knows if there will be a third force coming up … We must be able to think outside the box by daring to embrace the wind of change rather than to only think of PH day in and day out when it’s only kowtowing to BN.”

Interestingly, former de facto law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim picks recently retired chief justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat as his choice of PMX successor.

The opposition-slant UMNO member based his choice on three criteria, namely:

  • Integrity & independence: While serving as chief justice, Tengku Maimun had displayed uncommon courage, most notably in upholding the principle that no one, not even powerful politicians, is above the law. That independence is exactly what Malaysia’s political system is starving for.
  • Clean image: She is free from the scandals, cronyism and baggage that taint many politicians. A PM who doesn’t carry the weight of deals, debts or dynasties would be a reset button for governance.
  • Symbolism: The first woman chief justice becoming PM would be a defining moment to project reform, inclusion and moral authority – both domestically and internationally.

“When Madani says ‘there’s nobody to replace Anwar’, the Opposition could respond, ‘we’ve someone better; a courageous former chief justice who served with dignity, applied the law without fear or favour and is untainted by the toxic culture of money politics,” applauded Zaid.

“Tengku Maimun represents the kind of leader Malaysia deserves.” – Aug 20, 2025
