State polls: Sanusi to be PN’s “poster boy” to defend Kedah?

KEDAH Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor will be the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition’s poster boy to defend the PAS-led administration in the state.

According to a report by Malaysiakini, several PAS leaders have indicated that the party is counting on Sanusi’s popularity to win votes in the upcoming state polls.

“The Menteri Besar will be the poster boy for PAS as well as PN to defend the Kedah state government. So far, there is no other leader, only him,” a central PAS leader told the news portal on condition of anonymity.

This was echoed by another central PAS leader, who briefly confirmed that Sanusi will be the party’s poster boy.

Last Saturday, PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said Sanusi has been named the PN election director for the six state polls that will take place this year.

Sanusi, who was also present at the event in Ampang revealed that the candidates for Menteri Besar would be highlighted as PN’s “poster boys”.

He said the coalition will have a poster boy or menteri besar candidate for each state that is up for election.

The coming state elections will involve PAS-led Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah as well as Pakatan Harapan-led Selangor, Negri Sembilan, and Penang.

On the forthcoming state polls, Sanusi also confirmed that the coalition has completed the allocation of state seats up for contest in the six states, although the agreement reached at the state level would be brought to the central coalition leadership to be finalised.

Sanusi also said the coalition had also launched its machinery and prepared a strategy for 100 days to face the state elections and had appointed a “Mas’ul” (coordinator) in each of the six states. – March 28, 2023
