Syed Saddiq enters defence in corruption case

MUAR MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman arrived at the court complex here at 9.18am to begin his defence against four charges of criminal breach of trust, misuse of funds, and money laundering.

The former youth and sports minister swiftly entered the courthouse without speaking to reporters while donning a navy blue suit and a white shirt.

His parents, Syed Abdul Rahman Alsagoff and Mahani Syed Abdul Aziz, who were also witnesses, arrived around fifteen minutes earlier, according to The Vibes.

Syed Saddiq will enter his defence today on one charge of abetting an Armada former assistant treasurer to commit a criminal breach of trust, and another charge of misusing party contributions of RM120,000 belonging to Armada Bumi Bersatu Enterprise.

He will also enter his defence for two money laundering allegations stemming from two RM50,000 transactions thought to be the profits of unlawful activities.

In October, Syed Saddiq was ordered to enter his defence after the judge found that the prosecution had proven a prima facie case.

The court had set Feb 22 to 24, March 13 and 14, and April 10 to 14 as trial dates. – Feb 22, 2023
