TMJ urges supporters to stop criticising, give full support to Harimau Malaya

THE Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) former president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim who is also Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ) has urged football supporters to give full backing to the Harimau Malaya team in its quest.

He said this after criticising a handful of supporters who questioned the performance of some Harimau Malaya players during the match that Malaysia won 4-3 against Kyrgyzstan last Thursday (Nov 16).

TMJ noted this in a comment made on the ekorharimaumalaya Instagram page yesterday (Nov 18).
He added that supporters should not discourage players who have given everything to help the national team during the opening action of Group D of the 2026 World Cup/2027 Asian Cup qualifying campaign at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil.

TMJ, the owner of the Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club (JDT), is of the view that all parties especially the supporters, should be grateful that Harimau Malaya managed to achieve an important victory in the match.

“Be thankful for the win. You (the supporters) keep pointing fingers here and there to bring down the spirit of your own country’s players. All the players have given everything, even the result. Alhamdulillah.

“Do you want to be a coach, do you work in the football industry? Did you win anything? Just support the national team and keep quiet,” said Tunku Ismail.

Last Thursday, Harimau Malaya made an extraordinary comeback when they came from behind, down 3-1 to beat Kyrgyzstan, which is ranked 97th in the world, with a result of 4-3.

Malaysia is now in second place in Group D and will face Taiwan on Tuesday in Taipei. – Nov 19, 2023
