Two Selangor elected reps confirmed Covid-19 positive

TWO Selangor elected representative have been confirmed to be Covid-19 positive, Bernama reported today.

The duo are Kampung Tunku State Assemblywoman Lim Yi Wei and Kota Damansara State Assemblyman Shatiri Mansor.

According to Bernama, Lim confirmed having been infected with Covid-19 yesterday through her Facebook post, while Shatiri announced the matter through a video on his website.

Lim reportedly said, she underwent the first Covid-19 screening at the Kuala Lumpur Airport 2 (klia2) upon her return from Sabah on Sept 27 and was placed under home quarantine.

The result that came on Sept 30 found her negative, but after developing symptoms, she took a second test on Oct 2, which then found her positive with the virus yesterday.

As for Shatiri, he, his wife, their son and seven staff of the Kota Damansara Assemblyman’s Service Centre underwent the Covid-19 screening at Klia 2 on Sept 27 after returning from Sabah, following which they were placed under a 14-day home quarantine.

Yesterday, he was informed by the Petaling Health centre that he and his family were positive for Covid -19. However, the results for his staff came back negative.

“All of us have been taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment,” Shatiri was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Bernama also reported that Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari had wished a speedy recovery for Lim and Shatiri.

“I’ll pray for their recovery. May they and their families be given the strength to go through the test,” he reportedly said on his Facebook posting, adding that the official functions and duties of the two elected representatives would be coordinated and facilitated by his office and their service centres.
