PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched the I LITE U initiative at Pavilion KL, an urban lighting project aimed at enhancing Kuala Lumpur’s nightlife and supporting the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
With Oscar-winning actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh as a special guest, he emphasised that Malaysia’s tourism success stems from the country’s peace and unity among all ethnic groups, including Malays, Chinese, Indians, Sabahans, and Sarawakians, urging all Malaysians to proudly defend this harmony.
“It has been a success because of all the races we are seeing here – from Perlis to Sabah to Sarawak, every race, we should be proud, and we need to defend this.
“We are proud Malaysians, and when I say Malaysians, I’m referring to the Malay, the Chinese, the Indian, the Sarawakians, the Sabahans – we are a great nation!”
In a separate speech at the Hari Keluarga & Rapat Reformis Kebangsaan 2026 event in Bukit Beruntung, Rawang, Anwar stressed that reforms must be implemented while in power, reminding of those who, after losing power, became vocal and started to criticise the government.
He referred to past experiences that showed some leaders failing to implement the necessary changes after being given the mandate as Prime Minister or minister, adding that such a situation should not be repeated.
Acknowledging challenges in the Unity Government due to differing party priorities, he advocated for rational, consultative, and wise approaches to change.
He reiterated the Madani Government’s firm commitment to its reform agenda, emphasising an uncompromising stance against corruption, abuse of power, and arrogance, alongside a strong dedication to preserving judicial independence and integrity in governance. —Jan 4, 2025
