Valencia listed as a top travel destination in 2022

VALENCIA has been listed on Wanderlust’s Hot List 2022 of top travel destinations. Spain’s popular coastal city appears on the list along with Saudi Arabia, Oslo, and a host of others.

Now that travel is becoming increasingly accessible following the COVID-19 pandemic, many people are making up for lost time and going on trips that have been on hold for the past two years.

As such, Malaysians can now easily travel from Malaysia to Spain, and face minimal restrictions when they enter the country.

Valencia is the capital of the autonomous community of Valencia and the third-largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona, with a population of 791,413. It is also a port city, and home to the fifth-largest port in Europe.

Located on the Mediterranean coast, Valencia’s beautiful beaches make it a popular tourist destination. The climate is ideal all year round, with mild winters and hot, dry summers.

Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias

The Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences) is one of the most highly regarded examples of contemporary architecture in Europe. The building was designed by Santiago Calatrava, and construction took place from 1996 to 1998.

It is a complex including a science museum, an opera house and performing arts centre, and an aquarium with a bridge that passes over the main entrance to the museum.

L’Oceanogràfic

L’Oceanogràfic Valencia is a spectacular aquarium that hosts an impressive collection of marine life. It is the largest complex of its type in Europe, covering 110,000 square metres that is home to 45,000 animals.

The aquarium is divided into several sections that showcase the different ecosystems of the sea, including the Antarctic, South Pacific, and North Atlantic.

L’Oceanogràfic also features a number of interactive exhibits where you can learn more about marine life and its importance to the planet.

The Central Market

The Central Market is a must-see destination for anyone visiting Valencia. Located in the heart of the city, it was originally built in 1928.

It was designed by Alexandre Soler March and Francesc Guàrdia Vidal, following a contest for the construction of a new roofed design.

Covering an impressive area of over 8,000 square metres, the market has an array of vendors selling everything from fresh produce to clothing and hardware supplies. There are also bars and restaurants where visitors can stop at while they shop.

Valencia Cathedral

Valencia Cathedral, or officially the Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady of Valencia, is a Roman Catholic Church in Valencia.

The cathedral was built at the end of the 13th century (1270–1300) and was dedicated to Saint Mary by order of James I the Conqueror.

The cathedral houses a number of 15th century paintings as well as a Holy Chalice which is believed to be the true Holy Grail.

La Lonja de la Seda

The La Lonja de la Seda is a late Valencian Gothic-style civil building. It was built in the 15th century to serve as a market hall for silk traders and other merchants.

The building is an example of Gothic style architecture, which features pointed arches, flying buttresses, and ribbed vaults with decorative bosses on top.

The building’s façade has a large rose window and two small windows on either side that contain stained-glass windows.

Playa de la Malvarrosa

Playa de la Malvarrosa is one of the most popular beaches in Valencia and is known for its clear water and beautiful sand. The beach is located in the city centre and has a promenade that runs along the bay, which makes it easy to walk from one end of the beach to the other.

The water here is warm enough for swimming year-round, and there are lifeguards on duty during peak hours. There are also areas set aside for sunbathing and picnicking.

Valencia Biopark

Valencia Biopark is a nature preserve located in the city of Valencia. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including birds and mammals, as well as being home to many endangered species.
