What to expect on Bursa Malaysia this Monday

BELOW are excerpts of viewpoints from two selected research houses on what investors can expect in the day ahead:

Berjaya Research

The FBM KLCI’s recovery trend remains uninterrupted for the fourth straight session, largely lifted by the final hour buying interest in selected index heavyweights.

Trading volume rose to 3.2 billion shares while market breadth was fairly balanced, suggesting that investors remain selective amid lingering uncertainties.

Entering into the final week of October, we expect the FBM KLCI to remain range-bound with a cautious bias tone as investors await the US Federal Reserve’s FOMC meeting on Oct 27-28 for further cues on the interest rate outlook.

Investors will also continue to keep a close tab onto the on-going corporate earnings release on Wall Street.

While bargain hunting may lend support to selected lower liners, persistent selling pressure and external uncertainties could limit near-term upside.

Still, the higher CPO (crude palm oil) prices which climbed above RM4,800/MT (metric tonne) is expected to drive trading interest within plantation related stocks today.

The FBM KLCI could poise for a potential pullback with the 1,600 level remain in focus. The immediate resistances are located at 1,620-1,630 points. Meanwhile the immediate support remains pegged at 1,592 points, followed by 1,580 points.

Malacca Securities Research

Following the surge in oil prices, we expect the FBM KLCI to start the week on a softer note although oil- and chemical-related counters such as Dialog Group Bhd, PETRONAS Chemicals Group Bhd and TMK Chemical Bhd may attract trading interest.

Glove makers Hartalega Holdings Bhd, Supermax Corp Bhd, Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd and Top Glove Corp Bhd could also draw interest if customers bring forward orders ahead of potential selling-price increases although higher input costs remain a consideration.

Separately, we issued our non-rated IPO (initial public offering) note on power infrastructure engineering solutions provider SKA Capital Bhd with a fair value of 66 sen, implying 53.5% upside from its IPO price of 43 sen.

The FBM KLCI remains below key moving averages. Momentum indicators suggest that selling pressure may be easing with the MACD histogram traded at its positive territory while the RSI has rebounded above the 30 level.

Key resistance lies at 1,624-1,629 while near-term support is expected around 1,589-1,594. – Oct 26, 2026
