What to expect on Bursa Malaysia this Thursday

BELOW are excerpts of viewpoints from two selected research houses on what investors can expect in the day ahead:

Berjaya Research

The FBM KLCI recorded its fourth day winning run yesterday after hovering largely in the positive territory throughout the trading session.

Traded volume eased to 3.3 billion shares while market breadth was fairly balance which reflects rotational play among the lower liners

Going forward, we reckon the FBM KLCI may face near-term profit-taking following four consecutive sessions of gains, particularly as US inflation ticked higher in September, potentially reinforcing the prospects of further interest rate hike by end of the month or in December 2026.

Investors will also be monitoring the upcoming US Producer Price Index (PPI( and retail sales data for further clues on inflationary pressures and consumer resilience.

The broader market could continue to trade on a cautious undertone amid the prevailing external macroeconomic uncertainties.

Meanwhile, the pullback on Nasdaq overnight may see weakness permeates to stocks across the Bursa Malaysia Technology sector today.

Against this backdrop, we expect the FBM KLCI to trade cautiously in the near term as signs of quick profit-taking emerging after the key index came off from its intraday high yesterday.

The immediate resistances are located at 1,630-1,640 points. Meanwhile, the immediate support is pegged at the 1,600 psychological, followed by 1,580 points.

Malacca Securities Research

Tracking Wall Street’s weakness, we expect the local bourse to trade softer today.

Stock-wise, we favour KPJ Healthcare Bhd and Sunway Healthcare Holdings Bhd which could benefit from Budget 2027’s RM200 mil hospital outsourcing allocation alongside Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd and Top Glove Corp Bhd, supported by recovering glove industry fundamentals.

Meanwhile, Infomina Bhd may attract buying interest following its strong 1Q FY 2027 results and reported RM614.2 mil order book backed by contract wins in Malaysia and Japan in addition to expanded Broadcom distribution rights across 12 Asia-Pacific markets.

Lastly, riding the wafer fabrication equipment (WFE) upcycle, traders could consider positioning in Sam Engineering & Equipment (M) Bhd.

Despite the continuous rebound, the FBM KLCI stayed below the MA (moving average) lines with technical indicators showed recovery signals as the MACD started to expand toward the positive territory while the RSI surged above the 30 level.

Key resistance lies at 1,642-1,647 while near-term support is expected around 1,607-1,612. – Oct 15, 2026
