BELOW are excerpts of viewpoints from two selected research houses on what investors can expect in the day ahead:

The FBM KLCI extended its gains to re-claim the 1,600 psychological level on the back an extended bargain hunting in selected blue chips while foreign funds have turned to net buying position.
Trading volume, however, eased marginally to 2.8 billion shares while market breadth turned positive, highlighting an improved market sentiment.
Moving forward, the sustainability of the recovery will depend on improving foreign fund flows and broader buying interest.
Investors should also monitor the on-going US corporate earnings season, particularly results from major technology companies, for further cues on global risk appetite and regional market sentiment.
With the US Dollar Index slipping to three-week low and the easing US treasury yields, the prospects of improved Asia markets are on the cards for today.
The broader market is expected to remain cautiously positive, supported by bargain hunting in selected beaten down counters. Improving sentiment could encourage rotational play while investors continue to search for fresh catalysts.
The FBM KLCI may attempt to stabilise above the 1,600 level with selective bargain hunting providing near-term support with the immediate resistances at 1,612-1,620 points. Meanwhile the immediate support remains pegged at 1,590 points, followed by 1,580 points.
Malacca Securities Research
The FBM KLCI may trade firmer, tracking Wall Street’s tech-led rally although persistent foreign selling and geopolitical uncertainty could temper gains.
Stock-wise, we favour Frontken Corp Bhd for its exposure to sustained semiconductor demand with 2Q FY2026 revenue rising 19.5% year-on-year (yoy) to RM186.9 mil and net profit increasing 42.5% to RM47. 7mil.
Meanwhile, Westports Holdings Bhd reported a 26.4% yoy increase in 3Q FY2026 net profit to RM342.6 mil on revenue of RM1.07 bil, supported by higher tariffs and stronger value-added services revenue.
Its management expects annual container throughput to at least match last year’s level, thus providing earnings visibility despite fluid operating conditions.
The local bourse rebounded on Wednesday, stabilising above the 1,600 level but remaining below key moving averages.
With the positive MACD histogram expanding and the RSI recovering above 30, immediate resistance is seen at 1,617-1,632 while support is positioned at 1,572-1,587. – Oct 22, 2026
