THE Registrar of Society (ROS) should contemplate striking out the legality of PAS as a political party given it has been unrepentant in its quest to incite social unrest by jeopardising racial harmony with the latest attempt to divide the Malay-Muslim solidarity by potentially pitting Malays and non-Malays to clash with each other.
DAP Selangor assistant organisational secretary Papparaidu Veraman has described as “criminal defamation against the Malays” the recent statement by PAS president Tan Sri Hadi Awang that Malays/Muslims have been openly conned and deceived by non-Malay “plunderers” due to their own ignorance and carelessness.
“Such racial incitement can lead to one ethnic group to commit criminal action against another group which will eventually disrupt peace and public safety not to mention the existing unity and harmony among the multi-racial and multi-faith Malaysians,” he penned in his police report lodged at the Shah Alam district police headquarters yesterday (May 13).
“I therefore request the police to investigate Hadi who has time and again been issuing statements of such nature under Sections 499 and 505(c) of the Penal Code as well as Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.”
Papparaidu who is also the founder and advisor of the Malaysian Indian Voice (MIV) – a HINDRAF (Hindu Rights Action Force) splinter group – had recently urged the unity government to take drastic action against the Perikatan Nasional (PN) deputy president for incessantly sowing hatred by claiming that the Malays are being deceived by corrupt non-Muslims.

Firstly, Papparaidu called on the Home Ministry to publicly condemn Hadi’s statement and reprimand him by highlighting the importance of unity and inclusivity in building a cohesive society.
Secondly, he said the government should also consider taking legal action against the Marang MP given his hate speech and provocation of racial or religious tensions are not protected under freedom of speech and should not be tolerated in any form.
“I hope the police or relevant authorities will eventually act on our report … more reports will be lodged by DAP in the near term against Hadi,” he added after lodging a police report yesterday (May 13) afternoon.
Papparaidu could well be the third DAP representative to lodge a police report against the Hadi after Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng and Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid.
Previously DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng had called for Malaysians to lodge reports against the PAS president over the matter. – May 14, 2023
